Off Road Fun in McCloud

Spent Saturday up on the LPPT – translation: Lemurian Playground Power Trail!  A series of Geocaching Power Trails that intertwine all around the McCloud and Mt Shasta area logging roads.  The Link: GC4H8J1 LPPT–Starts Here!

I had some favorite caches that I came across too:

Checking for Geocaches on the way home and saw that there might be a chance to grab an FTF (First to Find) so I mapped it on the GPS and headed towards Hedge Creek Falls!!  And YES! I scored the FTF!!

Sean’s New Jeep!

Had a great time today out exploring the mountains of Northern California.  Sean came up to take delivery of his new Jeep and we just had to go off roading and get some dirt on it.  He picked a 4 door Rubicon in the Baja Yellow with all kinds of options on it. The destination was Harrison Gulch Ranger Station up on Knob Peak – see the link for the posted Geocache we placed.

Do you know your Scientists?

If your asking me, I do not… 😉
but there is a Geocacher or two in our area that has the lowdown, or should I say the rundown on the Scientists and he recently published a series of caches with names as titles and gave a brief description of each one. I enjoy when a cacher puts this much time and effort into a cache or a series of caches. I usually pickup a piece of knowledge that I might not have known, or as in this case I added a few names of scientists that I never knew about. I spent yesterday with my Geocaching buddy Cantseem on the hunt for the Scientist Series.

We had rain clouds all around us, not a drop on us, that is until we finished the last cache, jumped in the GeoMobile and started heading home 😉

The highlight of the day was when we found our way into another Lookout Tower Cache, one of my favorite type of caches to do! The views are always amazing and this one didn’t disappoint:

Munzees in Gilroy

Image

What a fun place to Munee!  Teamed up with YoursTruly, Hans415 and OldZee and headed South to Gilroy.

Munzee held an Event down in Gilroy at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in 2013  Lots of Munzee’s were deployed so there were a lot of Munzee’s to capture!

We spent the entire weekend tracking down Mystery’s, Diamonds and Virtuals, what a great weekend.  Met up with Fisherwoman for lunch on the last day and then headed home.  I was hoping to “Level up to 102” while I was there but by the time we started home it wasn’t in the bag.  Looked at my numbers and OldZee and I put our heads together thinking maybe it was doable on the trip home??

Well I – or rather WE did it!!  I leveled up to #102 – Very cool and it ended the Weekend Gilroy trip on an up note for me!!

New Year – New Caching Adventure!

New Years day typically starts off with getting together with friends and family and watching football,  or just relaxing after a hectic Christmas season.  This year we fired up the Jeeps, called our Geocaching Friends and said the weather is perfect lets go off road and grab some 5 star terrain Geocaches!  5 Star Terrain ususally means you need a high clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle which is why we all have Jeeps!!  What a blast this was, 7 Jeeps, 12 Geocachers: BIG BEAR, Lookout4 and Anna, Teco_mac, Cantseem, Playcache 1&2, JeeperJones 1&2, Crowshoot & Floflower… oh and Tru2Cntry,  2 non Geocachers (hey they have a Jeep, they qualify!) Lets all meet at 12:00 at the OHV4 Staging Area.

IGOR – GCDE – A very old Cache!

GCDE Igor

Nov 27, 2011 – BIG BEAR and I got up early this morning to make our way to this cache site… its got a very old GC#. This cache fills a spot in our “found for that year and date chart” that we both needed, and that’s why we seek these older caches out.

The terrain/difficulty rating was a 1/1.5… but that was the hardest 1.5 terrain I have ever done,

Something Old in Vacaville

Christmas Tree Trimming in Vacaville

I have visited Vacaville many times because of the great Factory Outlet Stores they have there, and I use to visit the Nut Tree when it was open years ago, it was a great little place to shop for gifts, and chocolate, it reminded me of a Harry & David’s in Oregon. I was staying in Vacaville last week with BIG BEAR for the Thanksgiving Holiday and while he had to go to work he encouraged me to do the Virtuals in downtown Vacaville. So I loaded up the GPS’r and took off for the day.

I had a great time walking the little Town Hall and learning the History of Vacaville. It just so happened that they were putting up the Christmas Tree and all the trimmings for the Christmas Holiday while I was there. It was a beautiful fall day and I really enjoyed the little town of Vacaville.

I was able to do all 3 Virturals in town, most of the tour took me through the little town and then I drove down to the City Hall and over to the Cemetary to finish the rest of the Tour. I found a 100 Year Old tree, and some old School Bells that used to tell the children in the area that School was about to begin. Vacaville was also home to one of the Pony Express Stops. I have a whole new appreciation for Vacaville besides just coming to shop I got acquainted with its past and I will visit the little Town Square again when I come to town.

T2C Hits 4000 and gets a Heart! ♥

S & J's Valentine

June 12, 2011 – So for my 4000th Cache we went over to Susanville and did the Valentine Heart Series. We started a 11 and ended at 5:30, a 10 mile hike. It was a great hike and BIG BEAR was with me, cheering me on, he is my best friend, my biggest fan and he is my Sweetheart too!  We hiked in to the middle of the Heart Series to get the Valentine and I made that my 4000th cache… it was awesome!!!  We celebrated with P-Nut M&M’s  !!
